Status of the g-Factor Experiment on Highly-Charged Calcium

Werth3 1MPI für Kernphysik, D-69117 Heidelberg, Germany; 2GSI, D-64291 Darmstadt, Germany; 3Institut für Physik, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität, D-55099 Mainz High-precision measurements of the gyromagnetic factor (g-factor) of the electron bound in highly-charged ions allow for a stringent test of bound-state quantum electrodynamics (BS-QED) calculations [1]. Therefore, it is planned to measure the g-factor of lithium(Ca) and hydrogenlike (Ca) calcium in a triple Penning trap setup. In the last year substantial progress was achieved: after major technical developments including new cryogenic lownoise amplifiers, first frequency measurements on single ions have been performed.
